He is survived by his mother Essie Mae Smiley, two daughters Joann Smiley and Denise Smiley(Gus). He was preceded in death by his son Ernest Lee Smiley, Jr. A viewing will be held on Wednesday January 11, 2012 from 9-11 am. Service 11AM at Mother UAME Church 701 E. 5th St. Wilm.mDE. Interement DE Veterans Cemetery.
