ELLA G. BUTLER

Peacefully on May 15, 2012, ELLA G. BUTLER departed this earthly world and went to see her Master. Born June 4, 1913 in Lawrenceville, VA to Lucy and Paul Goodrich, Sr.. Ella graduated from St. Paul School and entered their college for her teaching certificate.

She was a member of Eighth Street Baptist Church that was located at 8Th & Scott Streets for over fifty years before their transition to another location. She then attended Central Baptist Church until her illness.

She was the first Chartered Black member of the League of Women Voters, board member of Family Service, PTA President for twelve (12) years at Howard High School, a life time member of the NAACP, Director of the Senior Center at People’s Settlement for 24 years and a board member Christiana Community Center.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Katherine A. and son, Arnold G.; three sisters, Virginia (Ducky) 100 years of New York, Evelyn (Bootz) 96 years of New York and Rosalind (Soot) of New Jersey. grandson Roland M.Butler, IV, nieces Cynthia Grayman (Brooklyn, NY), Delores Matthews (New York), Joseph Grayman (Georgia), Carmella Crawford, Timothy Butler and host of cousins, god children and adopted sons and daughters. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Roland M. Butler,Jr and son, Roland M. Butler,lll.

Service will be held on Monday May 21, 2012 at 11 AM, Tabernacle Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral, 501 Washington St, Wilm.,DE. Viewing, 9-11. Interment: Gracelawn Memorial Cemetery.
