Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt,
YaYa and Friend
Rhonda Russell was born March 8, 1949 in Wilmington, Delaware to Clara Eliza Walls Russell Thompson and John William Russell. Rhonda departed this life, peacefully on November 20, 2012 at home surrounded by her love ones.
Rhonda received her early education through Delaware's public education system where she graduated from Wilmington High School in 1967. Rhonda went on to attend Delaware State University and Delaware Technical Community College where she earned a degree in Criminal Justice. She was employed for several years by Wilmington Head Start holding the Lead Teacher position.
In 1967, Rhonda gave birth to her oldest daughter Shaylyn Russell and in 1969 she gave birth to twins, Terri A. Russell and Tevi B. (Russell) Revell.
Rhonda loved and enjoyed music, preferring "0ldies, but Goodies," dancing, scrapbooking, crossword puzzles, reading, cooking, playing board games and most of all, Rhonda enjoyed spending time with her family.
Rhonda was a straight shooter; in speaking with Rhonda you knew that she would lay it all on the table and tell you like it was. If you did not like what she had to say, oh well, you would suffer the consequences of Rhonda's wrath. Rhonda was a strong individual but she had a GENEROUS heart. She would take her last, and sometimes go without, to ensure that family and/or friends had what they needed. Rhonda was loved by so many and we know that she will forever have a place in the hearts of those who knew her.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Eliza Walls Russell Thompson. She leaves to cherish her memories - father John William Russell (Grisel), daughters Shaylyn Russell (Roy) Terri Russell and Tevi Revell, a son-in-law Kenneth Revell, a granddaughter Sydney Revell, Spiritual daughter Deidre Sadler-Crew, four sisters Saleema Karim-Bey (Jalal), Theodosia Armstrong (John), Raylyne Shaw (Gregory), Rosalyn Moorer-Daley (Cedric), brother John Young (Aletha), three step-sisters Tanya Gonzalez (Chris), Tambi Gonzalez and Veveanne Torres, Four Godchildren Chi, Shamira, Sunni and Derrick, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends
