Winston Marin “Charlie” Charles was born on June 30, 1940 to the late James Charles and Norma Mildred Rawlings Adams in Trinidad Tobago. He was called home to rest on June 26, 2017.
In the early 1960’s Charlie traveled with his friend, Fitz “Roy” Callender to many counties such as Antigua, St. Thomas, French Gjuiana where he worked as a pipe fitter and welder. Charlie migrated to the United States where he joined the Steamfitters Local 638 out of New York.
Charlie's was a master of many talents where he worked as a Barber, Taxi Driver, Carpenter and Boxer. Everyone who knew Charlie would agree that he was a fantastic cook!
In the spring of 1974, he met Jean Doris Moore and a relationship blossomed between the two. Charlie and Jean’s families united as one resulting with six children; Sydney, Michael, Lawrence, George, Tasha and Derik. In 1999, Charlie and Jean joined in holly matrimony and their love and dedication has lasted for over 44 years.
When Charlie was asked how he would like to be remembered, his reply was “I would like to be remembered as a very spiritual person. I also believe that God is the ruler of the universe. He said he liked dancing in his younger days and he also enjoyed his life long job as a pipe steamfitter where he enjoyed meeting people. Charlie also wanted his family and friends to know that he loved them and that he was very proud of all of his children and grandchildren accomplishments”.
Charlie leaves to cherish in his memory his loving wife Jean Doris; six children; Sydney Charles; Michael Charles; Lawrence Moore and his wife Lisa; George Moore and his wife Bernadette; Tasha Moore-Wright and her spouse Isaiah and Derik Moore; twenty three Grand Children; 10 Great Grandchildren; his brothers Chester Rawlings; Theophilus “Theo” Adams; his sister Yvonne Green; Uncle Sunny Cooper; Hollister Cooper; two sisters-in-law; four brothers-in laws and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father James Charles; Step father Clyde Adams; his mother Norma Adams and his brothers Clyde and Mervyn.
Celebration of his life will be held on Monday July 3, 2017, Mother UAME Church, 701 E. 5th St. Wilm.,DE. Viewing 10-11 am, service at 11 am.
