Mary Sabra Mitchell

July 28, 1942 — July 5, 2017

On July 28, 1942 Mary Sabra Mitchell was born to the late Louise and Milton Barnhill in Williamston North Carolina. Mary was the youngest of six siblings. She was educated in the North Carolina School System until her family relocated to Philadelphia where she then attended William Penn High School and graduated in 1960.

She started her work career in 1961 at a Toy Factory.

In 1962 she met and married George Mitchell and to that union four children were born. Tracy, Renee, George Jr. and Kenneth. Mary worked for Mobile Oil Company and later Wills Eye Hospital where she started as a Register and later became Manager of the General Clinic until she retired in 2002.

Mary accepted Christ at an early age at Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Spear. She later attended The Baptist Church of Our Blessed Lord under the leadership of Reverend Grander Lee Smith. In January 1994 Mary joined Bethel Deliverance International Church under the leadership of Bishop Eric A. Lambert, Jr. She was a member of the Choir, and the Wives Ministry. Mary loved her church and her church family.

Mary was a loving person who always had a smile. She loved her family very much. She was everybody’s mother, at least she thought she was! She loved to travel and have fun. She always hosted Thanksgiving Dinner and a feast it was. Mary was an excellent cook, and always kept an immaculate home.

She leaves to mourn , loving husband, George, three children; Tracy, Renee Williams, Kenneth(Evette), 12 Grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one brother, Jesse Barnhill, one sister, Glenda Woods, one Aunt Rev. Dr. Betty Jones, 4 brother-in-laws, 5 sister-in-laws, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and an abundance of friends that included a sister-friend, Beverly Bell.

A celebration of life will be on Thursday July 13, 2017 at 11:00 am, viewing 9-10:30 am, Bethel Deliverance International Church, 2929 W. Cheltenham Ave., Wyncote, PA 19095 Interment Mt. Peace Cemetery
