Alvin Elwood "Bunk" Pierce, son of the late William H. and Bertha Taylor Pierce, departed this life on November 13, 2019 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, Delaware.
Alvin was born on May 8, 1936 in Wilmington Delaware and received his education in Absalom Jones, Brown Vocational and Howard High Schools. He served his active military duty as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. Following his military service Alvin was employed by the McAllister Construction Co., and the Cranston Hall Apartments. His favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing, and he loved to cook and eat good food.
He leaves to cherish him in memories his siblings; devoted brother Rudolph with whom he lived, James Neal, Elease Moss, Audrey and James Dillard, Delores Pierce, Ruth and Leonard McWilliams, William D. Pierce, Arletta Wiggins, Betty and Russell Lee, Norman and Gwendolyn Pierce; fifteen nieces and nephews: Yvonne, Anthony, Clifford, Steve, Allen, Marilyn, Lennie, William D. Jr., Marlon, Walter, Troy, Bryan, Russell, Stevie and Norman, Jr.; many cousins and other loving family members and friends.
His brothers Rayfield Taylor and Bernard Pierce, sister-in-law Sandra Pierce and three brothers-in-law, James Moss, Tony Pierce and Walter Wiggins preceded him in death.
A service honoring his life will be held on Friday November 22, 2019 at 10 am, viewing 9-10 am from Simpson United Methodist Church, 907 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE 19804. Interment, Gracelawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
