Ardeena R. Hamilton, the daughter of Jesse Stevenson & Arie Brown was born July 11, 1949 and reached paradise March 8, 2021.
Ardeena was born in Wilmington Delaware on the West side of Wilmington. She was the youngest of 8. She had 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She was raised by her mother and grandmother. Her father was never far either.
Ardeena was educated by the public schools of Wilmington. Ardeena excelled and was skipped 2 grade levels ahead. She was bullied a lot but her older brothers and sisters always came to the rescue.
Listening to music and dancing was her passion. She was known by some people as Steve. She was also known for dressing well. One day she was out in a club with her best friends Martha and Barbara-Jean where she met Albert Smith. He told her they would have a boy and 2 girls. She laughed and walked away. Obviously, she didn’t get far because their 1 st son Raymond was born not too long after on 9/8/1983. They had Lesli 4/10/1985 and then Severa 8/4/1986. They moved to the East side of Wilmington and shared a 3 bedroom apartment together. Albert passed away in 1989 and left Ardeena a single mother with 3 kids. She raised them on her own ever since that day.
Ardeena was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was caring. She gave tough love when she needed too. She was not for nonsense. Ardeena was Strong, proud and independent. Not to mention stubborn.
Ardeena was survived by 3 children. Raymond, Lesli, and Severa Hamilton. She had 5 grandchildren. Raymier Hamilton, Cha’Nyah Barksdale, Keair Pressey, King Hayes, and Angel Beltran.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday March 19, 2021 at 11 am. Viewing, 9-10:45 am, Rehoboth Temple of Praise, 4066 New Castle Ave. New Castle, DE. Interment, Silverbrook Cemetery. State mandates that mask be worn by all attendees.
