Bettie Ann Thomas at 71 years of age was called home by the Lord April 12, 2021 in Wilmington, Delaware. Bettie was born April 6, 1950 to the late Ethel Berniece Snipe and John Snipe in Tacoma, Washington but was raised in Columbus, Georgia. Bettie was the second eldest child out of seven children. Bettie received her education at Spencer High School located in Columbus, Georgia. Bettie Later migrated to Wilmington, Delaware with her late husband John W. Thomas Jr. to start a family and pursue a career.
While Bettie was living in Columbus, Georgia she met her loving and devoted husband of 53 years John W. Thomas Jr. on October 24, 1967 while he was stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia. Soon after the two got married on August 8, 1968. Their union resulted in their four beautiful and devoted children Velvia A. Thomas, LaToya T. Roane, LaJohn A. Thomas, and Yuvon W. Thomas (Wesley).
Once Bettie relocated to Wilmington, Delaware she pursued her career as a Senior Process Operator for FMC Pharmaceutical Corporation in the 1980’s. She was a well-loved, well-respected and a prominent Senior Process Operator for 36 years at FMC pharmaceutical Corporation. After pursuing her career for 36 years Bettie decided to retire to become a fulltime “Mamar” with her late husband John. From that day on Bettie and John dedicated their time to their six grandchildren; DaQuan D. Lloyd, Jordan A. B. Thomas, Varyan J. W. Thomas, Marcel A. Roane Jr., Vymir J. A. Thomas and Jasmine L. L. Thomas.
Bettie showered her family with love. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother “Mamar”, sister, aunt and friend. She gave her family and friends plenty of life gems that will be passed down through eternity.
She was preceded in death by John W. Thomas Jr. (Husband), Velivia A. Thomas(daughter), Ethel B. Snipe (Mother), John Snipe(Father), Roy Brawley (Brother),Velvia A. Snipe(Sister),Erving Brawley (Brother), and Loretta Williams(Sister)
She leaves to cherish her memories: Children: LaToya T. Roane, LaJohn A. Thomas, and Yuvon W. Thomas (Wesley)Grandchildren; DaQuan Lloyd, Jordan Thomas, VaRyan Thomas, Marcel A. Roane , Jr., Vymir Thomas, Jasmine Thomas. Siblings: Dereal Brawley, Ivan Brawley Great-grandchild: Noah N. Lloyd. Bestfriends: Patricia Priest, Clara Smalls, Ruby Parsons. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, devoted friends and family.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday April 24, 2021 at 12 noon. Mother UAME Church, 701 E. 5th St. Wilm., DE 19801.Viewing will be held 10-11:45 am. All those in attendance must wear masks per State mandate.
