Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.
God knew Calvin needed uninterrupted rest, so he whispered in his ear on June 7, 2019 that his work here was complete and that he had prepared a new home for him.
Born on May 16, 1951 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Deacon Bosie Reeves and Sisters Julia C. Jackson Reeves, the 4th of five children from their union, Calvin was the one who lived his life on his own terms.
Calvin obtained his high school equivalency from the Wilmington Motivational Center and later attended Talladega College in Talladega, Alabama for two years before returning home to work for the Electric Hose and Rubber Company.
Calvin spent most of his time in the neighborhood that he grew up in and loved. He could be found helping any and everyone that he knew. He never met a stranger and everyone that he came in contact with especially the children (whom he loved like they were his own) loved him.
Even when Calvin became ill and was wheelchair bound, it did not prevent him from living his “Best Life.” If you were visiting him, you better call first; because he may be anywhere from the Concord Mall, to Farmers Market, to Walmart and most recently, traveling around Smyrna like his scooter was a car. That is what separated Calvin from most, he never allowed his circumstances to define his destination. Calvin was a traveler and his last trip was on Heaven’s Highway. He will be missed and loved by all.
Calvin leaves to cherish his memory, his three loving sisters: Vosie Brocks (Cleveland), Juanita Reeves (Columbia, SC) and Catherine Bell (Perry); one brother William Reeves (Brenda); two devoted nieces: Karen Samuels (Roberto) and Lisa Reeves (SC), five nieces: Charisse Partin (Chris), Kimberly Reeves, Tonya Burbage, Krystal Bell (GA) and Keisha Bell (PA); one nephew: William Reeves, Jr.; two goddaughters: Takeesha Howell-Brown and Nakeesha Howell whom he loved dearly; a special cousin: Tammy Moody a special friend and traveling buddy: Janet Testerman and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by two older sisters: Willie Mae Britt Durant and Rosa Lee Seigler and two sister/cousins: Betty Coleman and Doris Moody.
