Dwayne V. Currington, "Wayne", son of Rosalind Bernard and the late Ben Woody, was born on April 18, 1960 in Wilmington, DE. Dawayne departed this life on Sunday October 7, 2018 in Newark, DE.
Wayne attended school in the Wilmington Public School system and graduated from Wilmington High School(WHS) class of 1978. After graduating he worked many years in his family's business. Once the family business was sold, Wayne was employed by Christiana High School's Environmental Services Department and served faithfully until he was placed on long-term disability.
Many wonderful things can be said about Wayne but the one attribute that shines the most was his love for his mother. The sacrificial care Wayne gave to his mother speaks volumes about the person he was. Wayne's best friend from WHS, Jeffrey Cobb, described him as a good friend whom he could always count on.
Although his mother was his primary love, Wayne was also known to love football(but not the Eagles), fried chicken wings, the various Judge Shows, and cooking. Some of Wayne's favorite pastimes were going to the beach, pulling pranks on loved ones and playing games on his cell phone. None of these loves compared to the love he had for his special nephew, Darnell Currington.
Wayne leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Rosalind Bernard; sister, Jocelyn Currington, brother Damon Currington; devoted nephew, Darnell Currington, uncle James Currington and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday October 18, 2018 at Mother UAME Church , 701 E. 5th Street Wilmington, DE 19801. Viewing, 9-10:45 am. Service, 11 am.
