Dr. Tameka Wright , "Doc"was born on December 3, 1970 in Wilmington, Delaware to her late parents Pastor Elder Louis Saddler and Bonita Wright. She attended both Newark High School and Hodson High School to earn both a vocational and academic diploma. Tameka graduated from both schools simultaneously in 1988. She has always been a hard worker and after graduating high school she went on to earn her Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees from Andersonville Theological Seminary. Tameka worked at Christiana Care Health Services as a time keeper for 30 years. She started at Christiana Care at the age of 17 years old and was able to work her way up professionally throughout her career there. It was easy for Tameka to make friends because of her magnetic personality which is evidenced in the many relationships she had. Dr. Wright attained her Doctorate degree in Pastoral Counseling. After garnering her distinction as a Doctor in Pastoral Counseling, she Pastored for The Word Ministries- The Church of The Living God located in Wilmington, De for two years from 2010 – 2012.
During her downtime she would diligently work towards her own personal goals and dreams. Tameka was also a published author, motivational speaker, producer, song writer, mentor and vocalist. In 2015, Tameka wrote a book of poems titled “On This Journey” which details her life experiences in a truly artistic form which is still available on Amazon. She also founded Tahj Entertainment which was a record label devoted to supporting and educating artists about the music industry. Tahj Entertainment was able to successfully produce plays, music albums and music videos for its artists during the early 2000s. She has also wrote many articles and interviewed many recording artist for Secdum Magazine.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Two children, Raymond Woods Jr. and Tahjae Woods (Newark, De), a Brother and niece Cornelius Wright and Demi Wright (Newcastle, De), and Lisa Ward. Uncles: Odell Wright, Wilbert Wright Jr., Baynard Wright, Kevin Wright and a host of other family and friends.
Tameka was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was always willing to lend a listening ear to anyone in need and always gave great advice. Dr. Tameka Wright was a strong woman who was humble and “down to earth”. She was a woman dedicated to Christ, her family and serving others. Her family and friends will greatly miss her and she will remain in our hearts and fondest memories forever.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday November 2, 2018 at St. Paul U.A.M.E. Church, 3114 N. Market Street,
Wilmington, Delaware 19802 at 10 AM, viewing 8-9:45 am. Interment, Mt. Pisgah's Cemetery.
