Elizabeth M. Ashe (Burley) was a resident of the Regency Nursing Home in Wilmington, Delaware. On December 6, 2022, at the age of 84, she passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital.
Liz, as she was fondly known by family and friends was born on March 14, 1938, in Wilmington, Delaware. She graduated from Howard High School, and after graduation she worked at “The Style Store.” Several years later Liz secured employment at Carl Doubet Jewelers, where she would later retire.
Liz had a voice that echoed the room, and a laughter that was contagious. She loved jewelry and was impeccably stylish. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, circling each other’s homes on weekends enjoying good food, drinks and much laughter. Oh, the storytelling they would share, how fun it was in their era, and how things have now changed!
Liz’s father, Thomas Burley; mother, Lillian (Brown) Burley; brothers, Edward and Robert; and sister, Shirley Knowland, all preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Troy Ashe (Renee); devoted nephew, Terrance D. Lockett; forever daughter-in-law, Nina Ashe; grandchildren, Anekia Nyamsi and Richard Beach; Goddaughters, Yolanda (Laddie) Corbitt and Stephanie Corbitt; closest friends, Marie Corbitt and Priscilla Wright; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held on Friday January 27, 2023 from 11am-12 pm at St. Joseph’s Church, 1012 N.French Street Wilmington, DE 1980. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
