Remembering the life of our beloved Eugene (David - Smoke)
Eugene Moses was born on July 1, 1955 in Wilmington, Delaware to the Sylvia and Weston Robert Moses.
Eugene was sixth of eight children. Eugene grew up in Philadelphia. During his time in Philadelphia he completed his education at Overbrook High School and joined the Marines. Eugene later moved back to his birthplace of Delaware, studied Business at the University of Wilmington where he met his wife.
On June 12, 2013 Eugene joined in Holy matrimony with Lucy. Eugene and Lucy blended their union with Terrence Johnson, David Johnson, Brandon Moses, Dallas Gamble, Noel Cruz, Monica Cruz, Monique Cruz and TJ Green.
Eugene was known as the life of the party when he entered the room. He loved to dance as a young man he was a member of the Floor Keepers as they would compete and dance in the neighborhood community centers. Another one of his favorite dance moves was the Hustle, he and his sister Irene were a great team together and danced every chance they could. If you didn’t know how to dance he would give you cues in your ear so you could keep up with him. He made you look really good on a dance floor. Some of David’s favorite past times were cooking. He watched his mom from an early age and learned to cook as he took pride in cooking and grilling. Always trying new recipes. He loved working with hands and wood. He was a custom cabinet maker prior to going into Banking. After retiring from Bank of America he started his own consultant and construction Business.
Eugene loved his family and had unique relationships with them all. He was proud of his children and their accomplishments. He was a proud Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He kept in touch with his nieces and nephews as he was their “Uncle Smoke”. If he didn’t know you, he wasted no time in asking “what’s your name”.
Eugene and Lucy created many special memories together cooking, shopping, watching TV and completing property renovations.
On February 17, 2021 Eugene went home to be with be with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers (Edward and William). He leaves cherish, his wife Lucy and Children: Terrence (Tracy) David, Brandon (Skye), Dallas, Noel, Monica and Monique. Grandchildren: Chris, Shaina, Cheryl, Tiera, Terry, Dashiane, Davon, Jiar, Leilani, Xavier, Lanaya, Bryana, and AJ, Great- grandchildren: London, Nile Hayden and Serenity Two Aunts: Adelaide Penn and Dorothy Sydnor.
Brothers: Roger (Wassetta) Rashad, Matthew (Charlotte). Sisters: Irene and Keena, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Celebration of his life will be held on Friday March 5, 2021 at 11 am, Mother UAME Church, 701 E. 5th Street Wilm., DE 19801. All who attend must wear mask per State mandate.
