Ezekiel Wilson Slater was born to Napoleon Slater and Cynthia Wilson Slater on May 23, 2000 in Newark Delaware. He departed this earth surrounded by his family on May 1, 2022 and received his heavenly wings. Ezekiel’s name means the “Strength of God or God is strong”. He spent his formative years as an enthusiastic participant in his church activities and local sports teams.
Ezekiel graduated from William Penn High in 2018. After high school Zeke worked various retail jobs, before finally deciding to follow his passion of beauty and fashion and enrolled in Shillings Douglas Cosmetology School. He attended Shillings Douglas faithfully until the COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020 put his studies on hold.
Ezekiel was fill of energy and in constant motion. He definitely got his steps in each day! He was known for his outgoing personality, almost always finding a reason to laugh and smile. His smile often greeted people and illuminated any atmosphere where he was present. He gave compliments to almost everyone who crossed his path. Ezekiel was often referred to as The life of the party, Mr. Personality, and Movie Star. With family he was affectionately called Bones, PJ, Zeke, and Zekeypooh. Ezekiel rarely passed on an opportunity to hangout with friends and family, especially when there was fried chicken, pizza, and sweets. He was a true and loyal friend; often being more loyal to friends than to himself.
Like all of us, Ezekiel wasn’t perfect, instead he was “perfectly imperfect.” He was known to say “Mom, I’m working on it!” And that he did. He was working hard to overcome some setbacks and obstacles. He had learned that “It’s okay to not be okay”…and ask for help when needed. He was filled to capacity with love for his parents, siblings, elders, and friends. Ezekiel had a special relationship with his big sister Daisey as they spent unmatched time together. He was fond of his three nephews, spending time with them at the park when time permitted. He will tenderly be remembered for his passion for baking cupcakes, frying pickles, putting Old Bay on everything, celebrating special days (especially Christmas and his birthday), and listening to music with his headphones in his ear continuously.
Ezekiel made an indelible mark in our hearts and memories forever. He leaves to mourn in his absence his parents Napoleon and Cynthia, siblings Dexter, Daisey, twin Zachariah, nephews Deiondre Jr, Pharaoh and DeMello, an abundance of love ones, and a village that supported and embraced him. Rest In Power Ezekiel until we meet again.
