Gloria J. Dennis

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria J. Dennis, who went to meet her Ancestors on Tuesday, July 20, 2026, at the age of 83.

Gloria was born on 11/20/1942 in Hazelhurst, GA to Annais and Susie McCants. Throughout her life, Gloria was known for her kindness, generosity, and dedication to family, friends, and community.

Gloria/Honie/Ma Glo/Aunt Glo/Jameelah/Mommy is lovingly remembered by her only child, Keisha Nesbitt-Cohen, Grandchildren: Yazmine Nesbitt, Elon Cohen, Erin Walker, Alexander McCrary- Dennis and Aveeana McCrary-Dennis; Siblings: Janice McCants Miller and Robert McCants, and many other relatives and dear friends. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents: Annais and Susie McCants and husband: Rev. Dr. Warren Dennis.

Gloria enjoyed crocheting, quilting, interior decorating, Mercedes-Benz, and junking/thrifting. She will be remembered for being a community advocate, unique flare of fashion, and spoiling her grands. Gloria’s legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 12:00pm at House of Wright Funeral Home, 208 East 35th Street, Wilmington, DE 19802. The request has been made that those in attendance please wear purple, her favorite color, Africian garb  or bright bold colors.
