Isaac Androus Keaton, III was born July 15, 1946 In Washington D.C, to Isaac and Elma (Smith) Keaton. Isaac was the oldest of three children which included Brother Raynard and Sister Gloria. Growing up on 47th street in south east D.C, The Keatons were the example of a strong family unit. Isaac JR, working for the city and Elma working as a senior administration clerk for National Geographic society. The Keatons were also committed to their spiritual life as they worshiped together as members of Turner Memorial A.M.E. Church.
Isaac was a dedicated and excellent student of the D.C public school system. Graduating from Spingram High School. He proudly attended Delaware State College (University) in Dover, Delaware where he majored in Business Administration and Accounting. A quiet honor roll student, Isaac was on the basketball team and pledged his beloved KAPPA ALPHA PSI fraternity. Isaac continued his education by graduation from Widener College with a Masters in National and International Business. After graduating from Delaware State College, he began his career with A.I Dupont company as an accountant and later as an accountant for Hercules. He met and was united in holy matrimony to Valerie Keaton (Smith) and from this union, Gimel Androus Keaton was born. Later in life, Isaac experienced the joy of having a daughter (niece) by raising Lucille Johnson (Smith-Keaton). He played an active part in many of his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren's lives by providing not only support but shelter when needed.
He traveled all over the world, applying his Widener skills and working for Hercules Company up until retirement. Isaac was what we called a “financial genius”. Helping his family and friends conquer the most complicated business or tax problems was his pleasure. On June 2nd, 2022, Isaac Androus Keaton, III descended to heaven. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Raynard, and his sister Gloria. He is survived by Valerie Keaton (wife), Gimel A. Keaton(son), Lucille Lillian Johnson (niece), and beloved grandchildren Amirah, Jahaan, Laila, Samir, and Ashe’ and great grandson Greyson. He also leaves his handprint upon the hearts of many nieces, nephews, cousins,
and other relatives and friends.
Celebration of his life will be held on Friday June 24, 2022 at 11 am. Viewing will be 9-10:30 am. KAPPA ALPHA PSI service 10:30 am. Mother UAME Church, 701 E. 5th Street Wilm., DE 19801. Interment Masks are required.
