Janet “Jai” L. Wilson passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on February 13, 2020 in Hockessin, Delaware. She was born on January 27, 1940 to the late Willard and Edith C. Loper and raised in the church by Edna Jones.
Janet was raised in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania where she attended and graduated from Unionville High School.
J anet was employed by Lincoln University, Hewett Packard, and MBNA, which later became Bank of America. She retired from Bank of America after many years of service to the company.
Janet was an animal lover. She especially loved her beloved dog, Rocky.
Janet was also a huge community person and loved to give back. She would volunteer every Veteran’s Day at the VA Hospital on Kirkwood Highway, taking them snacks, reading cards, and decorating for the holiday.
J anet enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed her trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, California, Bermuda, Cruises, and Casinos.
In her younger years, Janet was an avid athlete. She enjoyed and excelled at bowling, baseball, and tennis. Her favorite past times was dancing, crafting, and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her flower arrangements, wreaths, Christmas decorations, fashioned dolls, and money trees.
A proud mother and grandmother, Janet focused her life on building a strong family. She was never happier than at family gatherings, making holidays or any family get-togethers memorable seemed to be her mission.
J anet was preceded in death by her brother Lawrence Coleman and her sister Charlene Swint.
Janet leaves to cherish her legacy four children, Allen C. Cornelius, Jr. (Shirley), Lawrence Rique Cornelius, Lisa D. Cornelius, and Lynn Gallimore; Nine Grandchildren, Allen (Ellen), Sonia (Benjamin), Andria, Alexis, Tiffany (Novar), Paige, Jalen, Alea, and Lawrence “CJ”; Five Great-Grandchildren, DeAndre, Karen, Jazmine, Brianna, and Jaxson; a Devoted Aunt, Ellen Mayo; Aunts, Uncles, and a host of other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 22, 20202 at 11 am, at Mother UAME Church, 701 E. 5th Street, Wilm.,DE 19801
