Obituary
Kenneth Roscoe Seeney, affectionately called “Big Kenny” was born on September 26, 1952 to the late King Doctor, Jr. and Evangelist Alice Travis Seeney. On July 5, 2018, Kenny peacefully departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest while at Christiana Care hospital in Newark, DE.
Kenny was born and raised in Wilmington, DE where he received his education in the public schools. He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1971. Afterward, he attended Job Corp in the state of Washington where he picked up a variety of trades including auto mechanics. Kenny was a jack of all trades and worked for many years doing various jobs. During his later years, he worked at Perdue until he became disabled.
Kenny was raised to be a God-fearing man and he served as a deacon and played the guitar in Apostolic Faith Church of God #3. In his latter years, he occasionally attended services with his family. Kenny loved the Lord and never ceased to acknowledge Him in his life. One of his favorite songs to sing in church contained the lyrics, “Don’t let it be said, it’s too late”. He was a family man at heart and especially enjoyed family gatherings. Fishing was his favorite hobby and baseball was his favorite sport. He was an avid Phillies fan. He loved to listen to music and Al Green was his favorite artist. Kenny also enjoyed classic films, Kung-Fu and SciFi movies. He enjoyed reading comic books.
Kenny was preceded in death by his father King Doctor, Sr., mother Evangelist Alice Travis Seeney, and brothers Thomas Travis, Oliver Seeney, and Curtis Seeney.
He leaves to cherish his memory to his children- Kenneth Goldsborough, Sr. (Dawn), Michael Mathis, and Shanika Mathis; grandchildren- Kwajhan, Kenneth Jr., Kyri, Keziah, and Kharyzma Goldsborough and Jaianah Mathis; Siblings- Evangelist Alicia Wilson, Cassandra Lewis (Nolan), Deborah Turner, Patricia Seeney, Stanley Seeney (Patricia), and Marvin “Lump” Hansley; special nephew- Gerald Seeney (Pam); loving companion for over 30 years, Catherine Baker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will take place on Thursday July 12, 2018, Mother UAME Church, 701 E. 5th St. Wilm.,DE. Viewing, 9-11am, service 11am.
