Mary Jane Ceaser peacefully departed this life on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
Mary, affectionately known as a container gardener and spades player, was born on January 8, 1940 to Jane Dixon Tarpley and Alexander Tarpley of Dry Folk Va. Mary was educated in Virginia.
Mary had this love for flowers. Some would say she could bring some dead flowers back to life. She said flowers were a gift from God. Mary felt flowers are like people, you have to love and care for them.
Mary also enjoyed playing spades with family and friends. Whenever someone came over to visit, she would say ‘can we play a hand of spades’ just one and of course we would play all night long.
Mary met William Ceaser, her late husband, on August 1, 1960 and they were married on November 13, 1960. They were blessed with six children, Millicent, Florence, Charles, Melvin, Harvist & Dorothy.
Mary joined West Presbyterian Church on Feb 3, 1980 and later became a member of Newark Church of Christ.
Mary started fishing the year she met William. So for 45 years Mary enjoyed fishing. She was better than William, but we won't tell. Smile! Delawarr Senior Center was her second home. She really enjoyed the fellowship at the center especially playing cards and going on trips. Everyone knew Mary would bring fried chicken and potato salad for the bus ride.
Mary was predeceased in death by her parents, Jane Dixon-Tarpley & Alexander Tarpley, her husband William H. Ceaser, brothers & Robert L. Tarpley, William H. Tarpley.
