Reverend Carol Smith was born in Brunswick, Georgia, on August 26, 1929 to the late Bishop Seay and Mary Ann Hillman. she was a loving Mother to the late Rebecca Lee, Mrs. Olivia Stallings, and Rev. Beverly Webb of Wilmington, Delaware.
Our beloved Carol peacefully went to sleep in the arms of the Lord on Thursday, July 30, 2020 in the Parkview Nursing Home, Wilmington, Delaware.
Carol received her early childhood education in the public schools of Georgia. After graduating from high school, Carol continued her education in getting her license in cosmetology. Carol relocated to Delaware from Georgia,1950.
Carol held various jobs. She worked for the Bancroft Fabric Mills. Carol was employed by John W. Rollins and Family as a caregiver for 22 years. One of her gifts from God was as a caregiver and she was great at it. The Rollins still recognize Carol as a good friend and part of the family.
Rev. Smith received Christ at an early age in Georgia, after moving to Wilmington, she continued on her journey with the Lord, Carol rededicated her life to Christ in the the basement of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Rev. A.J. Collins. Carol was licensed to preach the gospel on January 19, 1968. Carol was active in the work of the Lord, working as a Pastor's Aide; Missionary, Hospitality, Willing Workers, Senior Choir, just to name a few, she was not just a member of these various ministries, she worked as the Holy Spirit led her and much was accomplished for God and the Church. After much prayer, the Lord led her to go to Mother African Union Church, under the Pastorate of Rev. Lawrence Livingston. Rev. Livingston ordained Rev. Carol on July 10, 2010. Rev. Carol continued her work in the Church for the Lord. Pastor Livingston put her to work as overseer to the Elders Ministry of Mother Church. She loved her babies as she called them. Along the way she was a Mother to many. She cared and loved so many in the Mother Church, all names we will not try to remember them, we might miss your name. Rev. Carol had great love and compassion for people
Unforgettable memories will forever be cherished by her daughters; Olivia and Beverly, a niece Mrs. Valeria (John) and family of Floria, The Elder Ministry of Mother Church, Special friend, Ms. Louise Harvey, Gloria and Chester Nutter, Rev. Delores McDoogal, Ms. Onedra and a host of friends.
Her homegoing celebration will be held on Monday August 10, 2020. Viewing 8-10:45am, service at 11 am at Mother African Union Church, 812 N. Franklin Street, Wilmington, DE. Mandate of the State requires mask to be worn.
