Sharon Laverne Wright

August 30, 1958 — July 25, 2021

Sharon was born August 30 th , 1958 in Wilmington, Delaware to Howard C. and Helen C. Street.

On Sunday, July 25, 2021, Sharon Laverne Street Wright, loving wife, mother, MomMom, sister, and niece went home to be with our Heavenly Father.

Sharon’s aunt…  Bonnie (Chirping Bird) Spencer, bestowed the Navajo name “Shiadi” upon her on October 4, 2013.  This name means “elder sister”.  Her pride was of her membership in the Nanticoke Indian Tribe.

She attended Wilmington High School and received her diplomas in 1976. She also served as Senior Class President. Sharon was a 1981 graduate of Delaware State College with a degree in Nursing.

Marrying the love of her life, Andre L. Wright, Sr. on October 2, 1982 brought much joy and happiness to the both of them only to have it topped by the birth of their only child Andre L. Wright, Jr.

Sharon was an active member of Ezion-Mount Carmel United Methodist Church from childhood.  There she was baptized, participated on the youth choir, youth usher board and attended Sunday School. As an adult, Sharon was a founding member and president of the Umoja Choir. As a member, her love of Christ and her dependency in Him grew tremendously. Just recently, Sharon spearheaded the CONAM (Committee on Native American Ministry) Celebration at the church. The purpose of this celebration was to invite our church and community to join in Christian love to honor the Native American Heritage and to foster a spirit of unity.

Sharon left a polished legacy of faith. Throughout Sharon’s entire health challenge, her statement always was, “God Got It”. Her faith never waivered. She was a powerful intercessor, who though walking through her own health struggles, never failed to remind others of how putting your trust in God never fails. She was a bright light to many as she proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ.  GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS!!!!

Sharon was a member of the Eastside Civic Association and served as vice-president.  She was also an inspiration to the Jackson Street Boys and Girls Club.

Awaiting Sharon in Glory are her parents- father, Howard C. Street, Sr.; Mother, Helen C. Street; Grandmother, Harriett Brady.

Cherishing her memories are her husband Andre L. Wright, Sr., son, Andre L. Wright, Jr.(DeeBorah Reeves) two granddaughters, Jada Elizabeth Lynn Wright and Jazzlynn Alaiyah Wright; brothers, Michael L. Street and Howard C. Street, Jr.; her twin sister, Sheila A.
