Thelma Elizabeth Brown, daughter of the late Daisy M. Brown and Tommy Nix, was born December 23, 1942, in Wilmington, Delaware. She departed this life on Sunday, May 3, 2020.
Thelma aka Meatie, received her education in the Wilmington public schools. She was employed by the Wilmington Housing Authority.
Meatie enjoyed spending her time with her family, extended family and friends, especially her Friday’s round-table time with the Golden Girls (Karen, Ruth, Edythe, Helen, etc.) - as they put it.
She enjoyed going to the casino and spending time at the Kingswood Community Center. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be greatly missed by her family, extended
family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Daisy M. Brown and father, Tommy Nix. Meatie leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Tracey and Simone, one granddaughter, Sheniquia, one great-granddaughter, Lauren, four sisters, Onieda, Brenda, Reba and Lois, two brothers, Carl and Gregory, one sister-in-law, Ruta, devoted friends Karen Samuels and Ruth Elam, just to name a few, and a host of nieces,
nephews other relatives and friends.
The celebration of life will be held Sunday July 19, 2020 Bellevue State Park, 800 Carr Road Wilmington, DE 19802, Pavilion #2 2-5 pm. Releasing of doves between 2:30-3:00. State mandates that all in attendance must wear masks
