Thomas H. Harris, Lll "Eggie"

January 2, 1932 — March 24, 2020

Thomas Henry Harris, lll, affectionately known as "Eggie" slipped into his eternal rest on Tuesday March 24, 2020 at Wilmington Hospital at the age of 88.

Thomas was born on January 2, 1932 in Wilmington, Delaware to Thomas H. Harris, Jr. and MArtenia HArris. His siblings were Velma, Alton and Mary. Eggie was educated through the Wilmington Public School System and graduated from Howard High School's Class of 1949.

As a child he attended Mother AUFCMP Church on French Street in Wilmington, Delaware. After graduating from high school Eggie served his country in the US Army and was stationed in places like Germany and Kansas. He was honorably discharged in 1953. Upon completion of his service he married Margaret Daisey. He enrolled and graduated from Goldey Beacom College in Hockessin, Delaware. He was the father of eight children; Kevin, Gennaro, Shirley, Jacqueline, Sandra, Margaret, Denise and Debra.

Thomas was a dedicated worker and worked for places like Fenus Steel in Chester, PA., The Port of Wilmington and his final employer was DuPont Chestnut Run in Wilmington, Delaware. He was also an original member of the Aristocrats Social Club where he could be found bopping away or spending time with his friends Kneebone, Dose, Doug, Big John and others. Eggie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, He was a family man who taught his family how to stick together and how to celebrate life together. He especially our times of BBQ, family vacations, and Holiday dinners. He also loved to play pitty pat, pokeno and tonk.

Thomas was predeceased in death by his parents, two siblings and two children. Thomas leaves to cherish his memories his loving sister, Mary K. Walker and his devoted children, Gennaro A. Harris, Shirley L. Cornelius(Allen), Jacqueline, Sandra, Margaret and Denise Harris.  He also leaves to cherish his love 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, "adopted son", Bernard Stewart and a host of cousins and friends.

The celebration of his life will be held on Thursday April 2, 2020 at Mother UAME Church, 701 E.5th Street, Wilm,DE 19801at 11 am. Viewing, 9-11am. with restrictions upheld by The State of Delaware.
